2019 Intern

Location: Beijing

Objective

The program aims to offer postgraduate students an opportunity to gain relevant work experience while contributing to the growth and success of AIIB.

Duties and Responsibilities

 

1. Client Relations and Programming Office

Assist in developing an integrated client database of country profiles and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) investment activities from various data sources on AIIB client countries.

Collect and maintain information for the client database from public/commercial data and news with regard to investment opportunities and activities of other international financial institutions in client countries.

Analyze collected data and news periodically to update the country profile and Bank investment programs in key client countries.

Assist in preparing a country brief that contains up-to-date information on macroeconomics, infrastructure sector development and AIIB’s activities in client countries.

Assist in developing an individual country directory of key contact persons in AIIB client countries.

Assist in arranging visits, meetings and conference calls with various counterparts from client countries and other business partners.

Perform ad hoc tasks assigned by the supervisor.

 

2. Investment Operations Department II

Assist in conducting market analysis and research in urban and energy infrastructure sectors.

Support project teams with backup research.

Conduct financial analysis and create financial models.

Perform ad hoc tasks requested by the supervisor.

 

3. Investment Operations Department III

Analyze and create financial models.

Analyze historical and projected financial statements.

Conduct country, industry and market research.

Review company information.

Support document preparation for internal approval process.

Assist in the preparation of investment negotiations.

 

4. Internal Audit Office

Implement an audit management solution like Team Mate or Power BI.

Implement data analytics, artificial intelligence, Internet-of-Things tools.

Research on 21st century internal audit function.

Research and participate in the drafting of an annual report for Internal Audit.

Research and support the development of an audit program for Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) operations.

 

5. Information Technology Division

Assist IT staff in researching and identifying technology solutions for the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB).

Assist IT project managers in the delivery of IT projects, i.e., to coordinate with users, write minutes, follow up on the status of IT projects and IT procurement, check deliverables, document business requirements, etc.

Assist IT staff in researching, identifying new technology and business cases applicable to AIIB and conducting pilot projects.

Assist IT help desk to resolve end users’ issues, such as troubleshooting the collaboration platform, support video conference system, etc.

 

6. Human Resources Department

In collaboration with HRD subject matter experts, the intern will work as lead member for the development of a project plan—including milestones and outputs—and deliver on those milestones and outputs.

Work with internal (HRD, Communications Department) and potentially external stakeholders (training institutes, online resources) in the design and development of the HRD web portal.

Gain exposure to the full breadth of HRD through interaction across the HRD team as needed to fulfill the project objectives.

Develop an HRD FAQ or self-help portal.

At the end of the internship, in addition to providing all the deliverables of the project plan, provide a presentation on the web portal project and recommendations for further improvements/additional projects in the specified area.

If time permits, prepare the internal launch of the HRD portal, including communications, events, etc.

 

7. Office of the Treasurer

Lead a project that will initiate or upgrade a specific treasury process to be determined upon the intern’s arrival.

Be flexible in work to be performed; be a team player as needed to accomplish TRE objectives.

In conjunction with a treasury expert, develop a project plan with milestones and outputs, then deliver on those milestones and outputs.

Work with internal and potentially external stakeholders in the development of the treasury process.

Gain exposure to the full breadth of TRE’s operations through interaction across TRE teams as needed to fulfill the project mission.

At the end of the internship, in addition to providing all the deliverables of the project plan, provide an executive summary presentation on the project, its impact on TRE and recommendations for further improvements/additional projects in the specified area.

 

Eligibility Criteria

 

1. Client Relations and Programming Office

Master’s degree candidate in economics or business administration from an internationally recognized institution.

Proficient in data warehousing, data maintenance, report analysis and design and data interpretation—preferably in the fields of macroeconomics, finance or international economic relations.

Team player with strong communication skills and ability to multitask and manage competing deadlines.

Fluent in oral and written English.

 

2. Investment Operations Department II

Enrolled in a full-time MBA program with specialization in finance, or a Doctorate program at an internationally recognized institution.

Proficiency in financial modeling and Microsoft Excel.

Fluent in oral and written English.

 

3. Investment Operations Department III

MBA/Master’s degree candidate in business, finance, management or related fields.

Full-time working experience (2-5 years) in international finance and investment; experience in project finance, corporate finance, investment banking, financial consulting, private equity, credit analysis or commercial banking would be valued.

Knowledge about telecommunications network infrastructure, manufacturing of (renewable) energy and transport equipment and fintech would be an advantage.

Strong analytical, conceptual and negotiation skills.

Ability to analyze and develop complex financial models and related accounting skills.

Enthusiasm for working in multicultural teams, preferably with experience in Asian emerging markets.

Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.

 

4. Internal Audit Office

MBA/Master’s degree candidate in internal audit and/or any subjects connected to audit from an internationally recognized institution.

Experience in audit management solutions (Team Mate, ACL, SAP) would be an advantage.

Excellent report writing skills; good storyteller.

Fluent in oral and written English.

 

5. Information Technology Division

Master’s degree candidate or equivalent in information management, computer science or other related fields of expertise from an internationally recognized institution.

Proficiency in reporting and presentation skills.

Sound research techniques.

Passion for technology.

Understanding of native cloud technology.

Works cooperatively and effectively with coworkers, other departments and service providers.

Fluent in oral and written English.

 

6. Human Resources Department

Master’s degree candidate in human resources management, communications or other related fields of expertise from an internationally recognized institution.

Able to extract core information and present it in a compelling and interesting way.

Excellent command of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.).

Innovative at presenting facts and figures in a creative and interactive way.

Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable working in a multicultural environment.

Good understanding of end-users’ needs in terms of information and content.

Good understanding of HR functions.

Strong stakeholder management skills.

Good project and time management skills.

Able to work independently.

Proactive and resourceful.

Good attention to detail.

Web design knowledge would be an advantage.

Fluent in oral and written English.

 

7. Office of the Treasurer

Master’s degree candidate in economics, finance or related fields.

An interest in finance and international markets and how multinational development organizations operate in those markets.

Ability to adapt to a constantly changing environment as TRE and its customers (other AIIB departments) are growing rapidly.

Willingness to take project direction guidance while being independent to complete project deliverables and search for solutions to problems.

An enthusiasm for learning across treasury operations and willingness to dive deeply into a specific area of those operations, as determined at the outset of the internship.
