Org. Setting and Reporting

The position is located in the Information and Facilities Support Unit of the Administrative, Finance and Personnel Section (AFPS), Facilities Management Service (FMS), Facilities and
Commercial Services Division (FCSD) of the Office of the Central Support Services (OCSS), Department of Management (DM). The internship is for three (3) months. The internship is
UNPAID and full-time. Interns work five days per week (35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the Information and Facilities Support Unit. Responsibilities

Assists with the general public and official visitors of staff by performing the following tasks: Respond to general information queries such as directions to the conference rooms or

building location of a particular meeting or Visitor Service location within the area. Assist the Department of Safety and Security officer assigned to the Information Desk by entering

visitor data in the security software system and taking photos of the staff visitors or the Delegates Dining Room guests. Provide information to a variety of telephone queries from the

public, secretariat members and delegation members. Perform other tasks as required.

Education

To qualify for an internship by the United Nations Headquarters Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met:1. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:(1) Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);(2) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or(3) Have graduated with a university degree as defined in (1) and (2) above and, if selected, must commence the internship within one year period of graduation.. 2. Applicants must be computer literate in standard software applications, including MS Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel),. 3. Applicants must have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations. 4. Applicants must have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which includes willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

Work Experience

Applicants are not required to have relevant work experience for participation in the Programme, however experience in customer support is an advantage.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required. Knowledge of French is an advantage.
